Effervescent and light-bodied with candied-fruit acidity. A clean example of carbonic maceration.

Finca Los Naranjos began in 2015 as a project shaped by a group of high school friends in Apaneca , El Salvador. When they took on the farm it had been abandoned for many years and was in disrepair. Their work has transformed it into a thriving landscape that supports more than 200 families in the surrounding communities, growing coffee under forest shade on volcanic slopes.

Gesha traces back to Ethiopia and reached Central America via Costa Rica in the 1950s, spreading through the region long before Panama brought it into the global spotlight. In El Salvador, the variety can show lifted, Ethiopian-like aromatics and a tea-like structure. Here, fermenting whole cherry in a CO2-rich environment builds sweet, candied fruit character while keeping the cup clean, floral, and light.

The candied-fruit acidity really pops with the carbonic maceration process — it’s light and bubbly on the tongue, almost like a fizzy sip of coffee. My machine handled these capsules flawlessly, and the clean finish made me want another cup right away.

Brewed a cup this morning and the effervescence hit me right away—so lively and light, almost like sparkling coffee. The candied-fruit notes are subtle but there, and the machine handled the capsule perfectly. Three weeks in and every shot comes out clean and consistent.

The candied-fruit acidity really comes through even with milk, and that effervescent lightness makes it dangerously easy to finish a cup before it cools. I’ve tried a lot of fancy espresso lately but this one’s the first that actually tastes as described on the box.
